Alarm clock with time to sell your business letters

How can you best anticipate what questions will be asked as you begin the sale of your business?

Get a competitive advantage on the process! Here are some questions you should consider before beginning.

Before You Begin Selling Your Business

  • Define your business – what do you do and how do you do it? Think differentiation.
  • Why do you want to sell?
  • When do you expect to sell your business? Define what you see as the best possible transition, over what period and how it will look post sale.
  • How many years have you been in business?
  • How many employees do you have?
  • What were the last three years’ revenues? What is the trend?
  • Are you profitable?
  • What will you do after you sell?
  • How much vacation time do you take?
  • Have you determined if the sale will meet your financial needs?
  • What problems do you see in the selling and transition process?
  • How are your financial records?

By reading these questions and thinking through the answers, you’ll be at a competitive advantage when it comes time to selling your business.
